On behalf of the DSS EXCO, we extend a warm welcome to the 36th ASM 2025, held at One Farrer Hotel. We look forward to reconnecting with all of you at our event, which is always the annual highlight of our Society’s calendar.
This year, our theme is “New Horizons in Skin Disease Management”, and we will discuss the latest therapies, clinical approaches and evidence-based practices that are shaping the future of dermatology and venereology. Moreover, we have invited Prof Ellen Kim, who is internationally renowned for her work in Cutaneous Lymphomas, to deliver the Chan Heng Leong Memorial Lecture on mentorship and role modelling in dermatology. This is an important topic as we nurture our budding dermatologists and build camaraderie within our community. For our cosmetic track, we have invited Dr Peter Ch’ng, current Vice-President of the Persatuan Dermatologi Malaysia (PDM) to share with us on the latest developments in laser treatments. Residents, you are not forgotten – each day will begin with high-yield review sessions, which we invite all to attend.
During our pre-conference workshop, we focus our attention on the clinical aspects of Wound Management. Chronic wounds pose a complex challenge in dermatology, and the management of chronic wounds has evolved considerably, with advances in wound care technologies and a deeper understanding of the wound healing process. The comprehensive care for a patient with a chronic wound therefore requires a multidisciplinary team. With that in mind, we have assembled an experienced panel of specialists who will share their clinical experiences as well as novel treatment modalities used to manage chronic wounds. The workshop will incorporate practical sessions led by our nursing colleagues from various institutions, who will share their expertise on managing the variety of wounds we encounter in clinical practice.
Lastly, look out for our new e-poster displays, which will showcase the scientific work done by our dermatological community over the past year.
This will be an amazing time to catch up with old friends and forge new connections. We wish you all an enriching experience this year.
